Badger Weir Healesville
Set in a beautiful forest setting with parrots, lyrebirds, kangaroos, goannas and kookaburras all likely to be seen.  A very popular picnic area. A number of walks can be taken from the car park but do take the walk along the western side of the creek down to the weir where on quieter days you are likely to see kangaroos and lyrebirds, especially on cooler days.  A magical spot.


Dandenong Ranges National Park
A network of walking tracks gives access to most parts of the park.  The park extends from Mt Evelyn and Silvan to Olinda, Sassafras, Sherbrooke, Kallista, Ferntree Gully and Mt Dandenong.

Discover the mystery and the magnitude of the ancient Mountain Ash and Myrtle Beech forests on a journey through the tree tops and fern gullies.
Mount Donna Buang
At 1245 metres high Mt Donna Buang has panoramic views over melbourne, the Yarra Valley, the Dandenong Ranges, Cathedral Ranges, Mount Baw Baw and the Alps.
Lady Talbot Forest Drive
Take a short scenic drive beside the Taggerty River to discover raging waterfalls that cascade over enormous granite boulders, bubbling creeks, beautiful tree fern gullies under tall eucalypts and finally enter a magical ancient rainforest that looks much as it has for many millions of years.


Cumberland Scenic Reserve
16 km east of Marysville. More than 300 hectares, an extremely valuable stand of mountain ash. visit The Big Tree, Cora-Lynn Falls, Barton's Lookout, cumberland Falls, Cambarville, and Sovereign View.


Murrindindi Scenic Reserve
Near Toolangi.  The reserve and surrounding forest offer a wide variety of walks ranging from short strolls to day-long hikes.  See Wilhelmina Falls, Murrindindi Cascades, Historic tramway and Old Dindi Mill.


The Ada Tree
Probably over 300 years old, the Ada Tree stands 76 metres in height with a circumference of 15 metres measured at 1.5 metres above ground level.  The Ada tree is a giant Mountain Ash.  It towers over surrounding rainforest in the headwaters of the Little Ada River north-east of Powelltown.  The tree is accessible from Warburton, Powelltown or Noojee. An 86 Km forest drive round trip will take you via Starlings Gap, The Ada Tree, Ada No 2 Mill, The Bump and Seven Acre Rock.
Walk a 3.6 km round walk to the Ada tree, a very worthwhile experience.

Mt Riddell Climb
Accessed from the south-eastern edge of Healesville, Mt Riddell presents a challenge to the fittest of walkers. The route allows foot access to many miles of native bushland.

Warburton Trail
This trail starts in Lilydale at the former bridge crossing on Maroondah Highway and follows the former train line all the way to Warburton, a distance of 38 km.  It may be joined at any place alont the route and is open to cyclists, horse riders or the intrepid walker. 

Silvan Reservoir Park
Set in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges Silvan Reservoir Park is an easy drive from Melbourne and ideal for a day away from it all.  For the more enthusiastic, try one of several forest walking tracks which commence from the Overflow Carpark.

William Ricketts Sanctuary
 An open-air sculptor gallery amidst magnificent forest on Mt Dandenong.  It was created by the late William Ricketts, a self-taught sculptor who embraced aboriginal ideas in seeing nature as a living force and modelling his figures from real life.


Healesville Sanctuary
 One of Australia's most popular tourist attractions. World renown for holding the world's largest collection of Australian wildlife blending into a spacious and tranquil Australian bush setting.  31 hectares of natural bush.


Warburton Riverside Walk
The Riverside Walk can begin or end at any of the six bridges crossing the Yarra Behind the township.  The total walk of approximately 5 km has a number of attractive rest stops along the way.  For the lucky walker a glimpse is always possible.


La La Falls - Warburton
A 1.6 km walk along Four Mile Creek to the La La Falls is accessed from Old Warburton Road via Park Road, Warburton.  The LaLa walk is a steady, gradual climb up to the falls. For those interested in the vegetation there is certainly enough diversity to hold one's attention.


Maroondah Reservoir Park
Just a few km out of Healesville is the beautiful park of one of Melbourne's well known water reservoirs. Beautiful gardens, lawns and walks make this a popular picnic destination.

The Warburton Trail
Once the main link between Warburton and the thriving Melbourne town the railway brought guests to Warburton for a honeymoon or to stay in one of the many chalets for a time away from home. 
The Railway was also the means local timber workers, farmers and the general public had of sending their produce and timber to the city markets.
