Gardens - Wandin
Day 1
Arrive at Katandra Gardens about
2.00pm. Start to unwind, catch your breath and discover your
surroundings. Bob will be delighted to show you around
our garden or if you prefer just wander around on your own.
Check out on all the Australian native birds in the garden,
the ducks on our lake and the frogs in our lake and ponds
as well as marvelling at the fascinating and diverse Australian
plants. Enjoy also the roses and other exotic plants.
If you have any energy take time to visit Warratina
Lavender Farm with its numerous lavender plants and
products. A short drive to Silvan Reservoir will give you
the opportunity to view Melbourne’s water as well as
enjoying short walks along clearly defined pathways in the
natural bushland. A light snack at Yarra Valley
Deli in the Wandin township will allow you to get
the feel of this beautiful rural area.
Tonight enjoy a quiet barbecue home at Katandra
Gardens or have a picnic meal in the gazebo overlooking
our wildlife lake, the beautiful Yarra Valley and the views
to the distant mountain ranges.
If you prefer phone for the delivery of pizzas
or visit Tien Loong Restaurant for a Chinese
or Malaysian meal.
Day 2
Start today with a difference. Take a flight from Lilydale
Airport or Coldstream Airport over this
beautiful area, noting the numerous wineries tucked in amongst
the hills. Note the various berry farms, the clear paddocks
as well as the beautiful bushland. Upon returning to
land drive to the Yarra Valley Dairy where your
palate is promised a sensational food and wine tasting experience.
Take time now to drive to Toolangi to visit the famous Singing
Gardens of C.J. Dennis as well as the Toolangi
Forest Discovery Tour.
Dine tonight at Rustic Charm,
our delightful local restaurant at Wild Cattle Creek Winery.
Day 3
Head for Healesville today. Allow plenty of time and visit
the world-renowned Healesville Sanctuary.
The afternoon can be spent visiting the local art galleries
and some of the excellent Yarra Valley Wineries. Lunch

wineries. Whichever way, spend the afternoon visiting some
of the world-renowned wineries and sample their award-winning
wines.
Book in at The Lilydale International
or one of the wineries for dinner tonight.
Day 4
Today we head along Warburton Highway, stopping
first at Seville Hill winery, Whispering Hills Vineyard,

some for your return home. From there travel further along
the highway to Warburton. Walk along the river walk.

the Pig & Whisle Tavern at Mt Dandenong.
A time in the Dandenongs would not be complete without a visit

see the dedicated work of one man, and come to understand
the drive and purpose he had.
Take time to drive to Woori Yallock tonight
and enjoy an excellent meal at the Woori Yallock Hotel
Bistro.
Day 7
Plan another day in the Dandenongs today. Starting

in 2008 and Bruno’s Art and Sculptor Garden.

Woodspoint Road towards Warburton. Stop to enjoy the
magical forest walks including the Peninsula Tunnel
Walks, the waterfalls, and visit the dugout.
Head back along the Warburton Highway enjoying the beautiful
views.
Stop at the Home Hotel in Launching
Place where you can enjoy a meal of fresh local food.
Day 9
Well! You've had a busy time! There have been so many
walks you haven't had time to go on. So many more wineries
you haven't visited and many more gardens you haven't visited.
After you pack up catch up with us and if you haven't had
a guided tour of the garden organise it now - Bob would love
to share it with you and point out interesting perfumes from
various plants as well as sharing his passion for Australia's
magnificent flora and birds.
For a great climax to your stay drive to Sherbrooke
Forest where you will be able to wander along forest
walks and maybe even see one of the lyrebirds.
