Warratina
Lavender Farm
Just one minute
from Katandra Gardens is the lavender farm run by the Manders
family. Warratina produces a vast number of products
from the lavender grown on the farm. Visit the farm,
listen to Anne-Marie's interesting talk on the history of
the farm and enjoy a stroll amongst the lavender rows.

Mont De Lancey Homestead
One
minute from Katandra Gardens is the historic homestead built
in 1882. It features home-made bricks and original furniture
and fittings from pioneering families of the district.
Mont Delancey also features a purpose-built museum, the original
St Mary's Chapel built in the early 1920's. a blacksmith's
shop and schoolroom. |

Warburton
Trail
A short 2 minute drive to join the trail at any of the nearby roadside
crossings gives the tourist the opportunity to walk or ride
along the route of the original train track. The trail,
which begins at Lilydale is open all the way to Warburton
and can be joined at any place along the 38 km trail.

Healesville Sanctuary
Just 25 minutes from Katandra Gardens is one of the Australia's most
popular tourist attractions. World renown and holding the world's
largest collection of Australian wildlife blending into the
spacious and tranquil Australian bush setting. Wander
through the large avairies, the kangaroo and wallaby enclosures,
the lyrebird enclosure, then visit the platypus, koalas, nocturnal
display and other Australian favourites. |

Puffing
Billy - Belgrave
20 minutes from
Katandra Gardens is a genuine relic of the past leisurely
days. The historic Puffing Billy Steam train leaves
the quaint Belgrave station daily taking tourists along through
the hills on the 24 km operating museum. It is a sentimental
journey with panoramic views and magnificent mountain scenery.
Opportunity is available for bushwalking, picnics, swimming
or relaxing in peaceful parkland settings. |
Forest
Walks
Less than 4 minutes
from Katandra Gardens are the northern slopes of the Dandenong
Ranges National Park. The park has a mixture of dry and
wet forested areas. A network of walking tracks gives access
to most parts of the park and depending on fitness, walks can
take from 15 minutes up to several hours. Park notes with
suggested walks are available. |

Wineries
A
number of vineyards are located close to Katandra Gardens.
In fact all the Yarra Valley Wineries are within 25 minutes
from Wandin. Domain Chandon is just 15 minutes away and is
the sister vineyard to Moet in France. This stunning
setting overlooking the vineyard is one of the area's major
tourist attractions. |

William
Ricketts Sanctuary
Within 15 minutes of Katandra Gardens is the William Ricketts Sanctuary,
an open-air sculptor gallery amidst magnificent forest on
Mt Dandenong. It was created by the late William Ricketts,
a self-taught sculptor who embraced aboriginal ideas in
seeing nature as a living force and modelled his figures
from real life.

Rhododendron
Gardens Olinda
A
short 15 minute drive from Katandra Gardens brings the tourist
to the 40 hectares of rhodendrons, azaleas, camelias and other
exotic trees and shrubs set amidst the great Australian mountain
ash.
It has magnificent
views and is a garden for all seasons. Whilst spring-time
sees a riot of color from the exotic plants, autumn hues are
a delight to the eye.
For those who have
difficulty walking a tourist train departs regularly taking
the visitor on a guided tour covering the entire grounds. |

Silvan Reservoir
Just
4 minutes from Katandra Gardens is this picturesque picnic
spot with its large reservoir of water supplying large areas
of Melbourne. Barbecue and picnic facilities are available
and from the park a number of interesting bush walks can be
taken. |

Yabby Farm
Visit Belltana Park with its Gourmet
Yabby Farm. Enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and catch
or buy your own yabbies. If you prefer fish for native
blackfish, have a barbecue, a picnic or wander around enjoying
the rose gardens and go on a guided tour of the hydroponic
tomato growing.

Torches are provided for all participants and walks usually
commence around dusk and take two hours.

Tommy Finn's Trout Farm at Warburton. Catch you night's
meal in a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. All Fishing
gear is provided and you will have the opportunity to fish

Ballooning
Ballooning is an ever popular experience
for young and old alike. Visitors can view the spectacular
sight of the early morning flights over the Yarra Valley.
At times the balloons float over Katandra Gardens. For

Tulip Farm
The
Wandin Silvan area with its rich soil is ideal for growing fruit,
vegetables and flowers. There are many beautiful gardens
in the area which are open to the public. Less than 6
minutes by car from Katandra Gardens is the famous Tulip farm
which holds its festival each spring. Visitors are delighted
by the colorful array of tulips and other flowering bulbs.
